FIGURATIVE ART
My personal artworks. Canvas. Acrylic
Series: Transformation
I disassemble what can no longer exist in its old form and make it into something new, which thereby becomes much more itself than before. This is how time is reflected in my paintings, influenced by my thoughts about the possible scenarios of our evolution.
Human beings live, change themselves and their environment. Things and events merge into one another. Where one begins, the other ends. The changes in this world force you to adapt and evolve. In my works I do not depict the end result of these changes, but the processes of social development, an image of which will be different tomorrow than it is today.
I draw my inspiration from the connections between the organic world and the technical world, surrounded by information streams floating without a specific goal, which irreversibly force us to further changes.
The main quality, the "superpower" of today is the ability of staying up to date in this fragmented reality full of odds and ends of information, where being tied to a particular identity is no longer beneficial, but staying flexible and each time being ready for the next change is the way.
So, in this series of works I deal with the multi-identical contemporary body. This body contrasts with the background of nature, which has already passed through its own evolution at its own pace.
Faithful to the rules of nature, the characters of my pictures adopt in their everyday life the rustic methods of protection such as spikes, "illusory faces", elements of mimicry, as well as implants and gadgets that increase their resilience and security.
Captured and stopped on canvas, the moment of this high-speed process in which the characters change their “skins”, is highly intimate and exposed.
Series: Metamorphoses
This series of works is based on a well-known cartoon. In it I transform the characters so that the viewer can see their positive essence.
I add the words "Happiness" and "Live" to my works to remind the viewer of the most important thing in our world. And through the perception of this fairy tale reality, the perception of everyday life changes.
One tends to perceive inner processes as properties of an outer object by unconsciously transferring our inner impulses to it. Thus, the perception of the outside world is distorted while maintaining the illusion of control.
Series: Disney
Contemporary visual culture is deeply intertwined with the theme of consumption. Despite the inherent contradictions they conceal, society places great value on attractive, glossy images. In this narcissistic culture, the consumer assumes both the subject and object roles. However, let us momentarily divert our attention from the customary cycle of production, consumption, and perception of iconic objects.
Disney's conceptual series delves into consumer culture, exploring how it has been shaped by the images of pop culture and Western art ingrained in our collective consciousness since childhood. By stripping away the illusions of sustainability, Olga endeavors to redefine the principle of multiplicity, deconstructing the blinding objects of consumption. She imbues them with a tangible existence, incorporating the genuine qualities of the conditions and rules that govern the modern human consciousness. The resulting aesthetic embraces contradictions and ambiguities, ushering in a new paradigm. Rather than merely destabilizing our footing, her gesture towards visual culture serves as a liberation from illusions.
